Already with the first song, the American avoids the impression that she would ever make a compromise. A deep Hooker riff opens, Kane puts her aggressive vocals on it, supported by a roaring harp. Everyone who knows the story about Candy Kane's life full of experiences, can imagine that she knows what she sings about. That's why she has that "bite". She also goes into pop blues ("What happened to the girl"), classy and with integrity, even "What A Day For a Daydream" is a success, riddled with skilfull BB King guitar playing. "Big Fat Mama" swings and jumps with brass, "Misunderstood" convinces with clarinette and jazz guitar, "Work what you got" plays with the Boogie, "Let there be peace on earth" has gospel feeling. There's also provocation, just listen to "Masturbation Blues" (also in Boogie style). Candye Kane offers a great variety. The thread doesn't get lost due to the powerful voice from Kane, her voice improved during the last years and is now one of the best in Blues. Far away from "trash".
